CS Instruments (PTY) LTD. stands for proven and innovative measurement technology for compressed air and gas systems. Our product range includes Flow- and Consumption Meters, Pressure Sensors, Dew Point Sensors as well as leakage detection equipment.

These products feature a high durability and high quality. The intuitive and sophisticated operation philosophy is an essential characteristic of the CS Instruments product range.

At CS Instruments (PTY) LTD. three major areas in a compressed air system are being focused on: Energy Efficiency, Air Quality and Leakage Detection.

The combination of accurate measuring technology and sophisticated analysis software enables the user to get a true reflection of the energy efficiency of the compressor house. Load and unload cycles can be determined as well as the energy consumption of each compressor and the system as a whole. Leakage rates can be evaluated as well as the actual costs per produced m³ of air.

The quality of the compressed air is often critical for applications like breathing air, food processing or pharmaceutical. CS instruments offers a complete range of online and portable dew point monitors to cater for each application.

The leak detection equipment is designed to enable the user to easily allocate any leaks within their compressed air system as each leak is an unnecessary cost to the company and should be eliminated.

CS Instruments also offers calibrations for all of our sensors. Our calibration services include dew point, humidity, volume flow, temperature and pressure meters.

The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and to a lesser extent, the Department of Energy (DoE), are the South African funders of the project.

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is at this moment, the international funding counterpart in this project.

The project has a Project Steering Committee, which guides the Project strategically. The members comprise the Dept of Energy (DoE0, the Dept of Environmental Affairs (DEA), the Dept of Trade and Industry (dti), Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and the National Business Initiative (NBI) and SECO.

UNIDO has been entrusted to implement this project and to ensure that the project deliverables are met and thus have staff assigned to the project eg. A Chief Technical Advisor.

The project is housed at the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC) in Pretoria, a programme of the dti. One of the functions of the NCPC-SA is to facilitate Cleaner Production and Resource Efficiency Assessments (in Energy, Water and Materials) in industry. Therefore the project is housed in a programme with common outputs. At the end of the project duration, the NCPC-SA will continue the work of the project to ensure the sustainability and legacy of the effort. Furthermore, the majority of the South African project staff is employed by the NCPC-SA to ensure continuity in the long run.

Both the project and the NCPC-SA are hosted at the CSIR in Pretoria. The CSIR provides both the infrastructure and the legal framework within which the NCPC-SA and the project operate.

Power Optimisa

Voltage Power Optimisation controls the power quality of the electrical supply to a site. By “cleaning” the incoming supply, electrical equipment fed from the supply will run more efficiently. Voltage is the main focus of the technology, although a number of other power quality issues are addressed. By stabilising the voltage and removing over-voltage and fluctuating voltage situations, significant energy (kWh) and power (kVA) savings are achieved. Better power quality also improves equipment reliability and reduces maintenance costs. A bit analogous to ensuring we deliver for you the best optimal octane fuel into your car's engine.
